Jon, you're latest video got me stirred up so instead of "letting one go" I'm going to call out a BIG company, Clickbank. Granted, they could care less about me, they basicly told me so, so much for customer service today! So, I go out and promote Shannon and Pats Blog Resource. I get some action and make a few sales. I'm over the CB pay threshold but hadn't received a check. So I go to CB and ask why, they tell me because all of my sales are Paypal! WTF!!!!!!! Well, they say, you need to have two different payment formats on your sales. So I needed one of my sales, evidently, to be placed on a credit card. I freaked on them and they really don't care. Big company, easy to hide behind policy. I implored them to analyze the sales, clearly, no fraud involved. Nope, big company, hide behind the policy!!!!! So, I could have let it go but as Jon has shown us we need to stand up and speak out, just as what has happened with Aweber lately. So, no one is going to stop using CB just because some guy like me hit a policy wall, that's not my intent here. My intent is to teach you, as a future business owner perhaps, to use common sense not rigid policy to take care of your peeps. CB clearly does not feel the need to, but even the most smug companies can get their comeuppance. Sometimes it just takes time and enough pissed off customers to make a difference.

That's not even the worst of it. They not only require you to have 2 payment types, but they also require that you have at least 5 DIFFERENT credit card numbers for your sales. This makes it even harder to reach a payout because a lot of people now pay with paypal and so the credit card sales could be hard to come by ... and you need 5 of them!

I understand their reasoning for this policy, but it definitely makes it difficult for somebody starting out.

yeah thats just like sites that set up ridiculous payout thresholds knowing that most users will never reach them.

Yeah the policies are ridiculous with all the requirements. Not to mention you lose money each month you don't make a sale. I've
been over the minimum payment for months but because I don't meet those other requirements, I don't get paid. Meanwhile, it keeps getting whittled away when I don't make a sale. :?

No wonder so many people give up on Clickbank......it's set up for failure right off the bat.

Weird. See I'm complete opposite.

It did take some time, but I knew it was going to before I got my weekly payments to my bank.

Seemed pretty flawless to me. I hit the requirement, I got paid.

But I was lucky because when I really focused on CB, I was promoting CB Pirate and that got a bunch of sales in a short time.

yep, it's the 'old school' way of doing it. It used to be a common practice. It used to be said that the average marketer would make 3 sales - so programs set their payouts at 4-6 sales and never have to pay the commissions. That's why I have been happy to see most traffic exchanges over the years lower their payouts to $10-15 or less - gives lots of guys and gals their first money in their paypal accounts - and that is good for business. :)

Cheers!

Ya, clickbank is definitely hard to get the ball rolling, especially if you are just kinda floating some links out there hoping to make a few bucks. You really need to go hard at the start and get that initial approval and then everything is fine from that point on.

I wouldn't say that they are like the programs with ridiculous payout thresholds because those programs do that specifically so that they won't have to pay people (no other reason) ... whereas clickbank has valid reasons behind their policies ... but it does make it hard to get started with them, that's for sure.

Yup... I'm way over payment threshold but virtually all of my sales have been PayPal so I'm still waiting to get paid, and probably will be waiting for a while longer. But I knew that would be the case from the beginning because one of the first things I read was their payment requirement TOS.

Been pondering about doing some stuff to try to boost some more CB sales and hopefully be able to make it to the threshold a little quicker, but that's low priority right now, lot more stuff I have on the table that needs to be done first before I can turn some attention in that direction. May get to it eventually without any extra work due to some of the affiliate links I have out there..... but like I said, I knew from the get-go it would likely end up taking a while, so. It's a pain having to wait, but I was aware of it from the start so eh...

I never had that problem. I started with ClickBank
by promoting niche products when Paypal wasn’t
an option.

And I found promoting Affiliate Silver Bullet optin pages
on my thank you and login pages is the one of the
best ways to monetize Internet marketing sites
with ClickBank products.

But as this thread clearly shows getting paid by
Clickbank is an issue facing established marketers and
newbies alike.

It’s issue worth talking about.

That’s why I just published, Getting Paid by ClickBank
on my blog where there is even a free gift with a simple
solution to getting paid

It's definitely an issue that I think makes things tough for people. A lot of people struggle just to get one sale, let alone 5 sales on 5 different credit cards. :wtf:

I typically don't promote too much stuff from Clickbank because I need to see the product first.

But yea, I'm one of the lucky ones with Jon... with the CB Pirate launch I was able to take care of the requirement very quickly.

Thanks for all the great feedback and info on both sides of the argument. I was a Clickbank Virgin and did not feel it necessary to read their payment TOS, so there is nothing I can do other than taking suggestions from folks like Jerry on how to git er done.

Rob

P.S. If I set my mind to it, I guarantee I'll have a check ASAP........just so many other details and so little time.

must admit it really annoyed me to wait so long in the early days too.

i promoted a couple of clickbank products before traffic-splash was a twinkle in my eye, before i even thought of buying a traffic exchange at all, it was my first few months online and before I even discovered nmf. I used classifieds and other forums mostly. The wait for payment was a real bind.

These days I'd focus heavily on Affiliate Silver Bullet if I were starting up with Clickbank. I'd also get myself into JV Notify Pro as quickly as possible (but ssssh I never told you that!)

Rob now you did hit my soap Box.... grrr Clickbank!

Last Year I did sell quite a few things... and I was going over the cashout thing.
I was not surprised but as usual only a few countries could get their money to the
very same bank you pay with your CC Card from. in this case a Swedish Bank.
or at least one Bank in your country.... I couldn't ...

The only other alternative was that toilette paper payout system I stopped using myself more then
20 years ago, but many ONLINE companies still are using... cheque ... hello we work online!!!
Payout my "#¤%&%¤# Dollars ONLINE is that to much to ask???

Yes it is... here we go... Guess what? ...My Swedish bank don't take cheques especially not USD
ones. I have an Online Bank... Some Bigger banks still take them but it cost you a fortune to cash them in.
Same for many countries, at least modern countries where we used CC card the Last 25 years.

Many Might know that I moved to Borneo... Hey I thought it can't be any problem open a Bank
account here in Malaysia and the fees for USD cheque is very low...

I had a few cheque and went to the Bank... They took my cheques and my passport inside their
office... I thought great, I will have my money on my Malay bank account in 30 days... Yeeha
party... (the sum was a lot for ppl here).

They came back with my toilette papers and passport and asked... Where is your work permit?
We couldn't find one in your passport... -Work permit? Do I need a work permit to open an
account? ... Yes you do... same for all Banks... I work online and my company is not registered in
Malaysia so I don't need an Offline permit lol....

This is The Reality working in your underwear, where ever you are in the world and get paid in
toilette paper... Sounds good and YES it works when you work with serious companies...
Heyy!!! I have 10 ways for ppl to Pay Me... ->> ONLINE and connected to my bank account
and YES ATM's been around many many years in Most countries... Guess what I just put my
cc card in the machine and I have my money In the currency I need. I travel a lot but that
has never been a Problem --- I work ONLINE ... Pay ME ONLINE grrrr....
I told CB about my problem and asked if I could get my money back in my account and cancel
the cheque... NO NO NO WAY ... same with another US based company... oboy I will not start that rant... grrrr again

I know... most companies is in US and for US citizens np with cheques or bank wire what ever..
But the world is a lot more then US lol... If you guys have problems getting your money then you can imagine how it is for us outside USA

By the way, the cheques was not any good... (Real Toilette paper is 100 times better) and of
higher value for me... I throw them away ... and this was not the 1st time... Last time it was TW
cheques that cost $25 to collect and the cheques was $18 each lol a few years ago in Sweden...

THE END of an Online workers Reality...

Ok, to be fair to CB... I had a look... they added more countries
to the list now... still not Sweden... but they added this text:

If your country is not on the above list, wire payments may be available for select accounts.
Please contact ClickBank Accounting to inquire as to the availability of wire payments.

Payment Default

By default, all payouts are mailed to the legal address listed in your account.

An account must first receive two paper paychecks in any 90-day period before it is eligible to enroll in direct deposit.

Once sent, payments take only a few days to reach your account, depending on the country. Specifically, payments take 1-2 business days for Canada; 2-3 business days for Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Mexico, The Netherlands, and New Zealand; 3-4 business days for Austria, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom; and 4-5 business days for Spain.

Maybe I should give it a 2nd chance... We'll see... :drunk:
But trow away 2 more checks... hmmm

Wow, Stefan, that's awful. I may never complain about anything US finance related again after that horror story!!

Jerry & Paul - thanks for the bug in the ear about ASB, I hadn't really thought about that but that's a good idea & y'all aren't the first who have mentioned that to me with high marks. I have been fortunate to get some really excellent CBP packages but man, everybody just wants to be pay w/PayPal these days. :(

It's just annoying to see that balance sitting in there month after month for nearly a year now but oh well, it'll be nice when I can finally get it out.

And on that note, going to read Jerry's blog post now :)
