So you wanna make a splash page, but you don't know HTML? Tired of little or no results with you exchange advertising efforts. Here's the best advice anyone will ever give you, you need learn this stuff yourself and get your hands dirty!

Some days, you can click for hours and receive a few new customers / referrals while other times you can go weeks with no signs of life. What you can do with this time, is practice your 'splash' page design and HTML skills. If you are not versed in basic HTML coding, trust me, learn it and use it. Remember, in the minds of many exchange professionals, a splash page can be your best tool. You want it to load fast, catch people's attention and be unique.

HTML is very easy to learn and here's a list of some great resources to learn basic HTML;

Those three websites are GREAT for anyone interested in HTML and offers some wonderful tips about proper page design.

If you have created a splash page and see little results, try using a different color in the website, or maybe a new catch phrase. Mix it up and see which of YOUR site designs works the best. Keep at it, until you find a winning formula!

"One thing I never see addressed is spyware that gets installed by pages viewed in traffic exchanges. One could argue that the exchanges can't do anything about it until someone complains so they know which page to ban, but you would think that some clever programmer could develop a program that the exchanges could run to continually search pages registered with them for spyware scripts. Redirects should be banned, as should rotators that don't check for spyware and ban redirects. I'll bet the people who wrote Ad-aware could write such a program and supply updates for the searches for a fee. It would be worth it I think, although owners of the exchanges may think otherwise.

Lately, I seem to have to clean out something called 2020Search almost daily. A couple of weeks ago, it was Xupiter in its current incarnation OrbitExplorer. Nosy bastards. Everytime I turned on my computer, my homepage was changed to either MSN or something called PopNav. Stupid. It was coming off of some page listed at TrafficG. Needless to say, I haven't been surfing TrafficG lately, and I haven't had an installation of Xupiter since. 2020Search is still a problem though.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents worth. I'm sure the people who write the exchange scripts could come up with something better."

• To frame break or not to frame break? That is the question and it got answered this past week. It was brought to the attention of many exchnage users and owners that Coffee Fair, the popular online MLM, was now a frame breaking affiliate page. The site was then banned by many programs and members started to complain. Obviously Coffee Fair values it's hit exchange promotion so they have changed their URLs to be viewed with the frames of the exchanges. Welcome back Coffee Fair!

• Regional Hits has had quite an eventful week. First it was acquired from it's old Top Surfer owners (remember this is the exchange that they were trying to give away to a lucky winner) and then it went offline for a while because it exceeded it's bandwidth. It looks to be back in business and I wish the new owner nothing but success with it. It's a great script, hopefully the future is bright for Regional Hits!

"I see much of the manual click traffic exchanges always being on top in the archives. How about the best Auto-Surf? I know they are frowned on alot but they are still just as much in use as the manual surfs. I will never promote auto surfing programs in Hit Exchange News. The reason is simple, they have hurt the exchange industry in more ways than one. It has created the attitude of 'why should I click, I'll just auto surf', it has lead to the creation of numerous cheat programs including the highly dangerous fake visitors, and in my opinion, has never resulted in a single referral, subscriber, or customer.

I hope you can understand, I just don't want any part of them or have anything to do with them =)
