The Pulse of the Hit Exchange Industry!

One To Click On by Jon

Welcome to the newest issue of the Hit Exchange News and this week's 'One To Click On by Jon'.

First, I just wanted to appologize for missing last week's issue of HEN. Thanks for all the kind e-mails I received over the past 7 days, it makes my job well worth it! I wanted to share a very unique and helpful e-mail I received from Amber Jalink the president of One Web Site Way. Concerning the issues of spyware this e-mail, given by Amber, should help hit exchange surfers and their computers from these pesky little programs.

----------

There is a few simple ways you can get around this spyware - we do it, and its been a huge savior.

1) Turn OFF (disable) ActiveX controls, BOTH signed and unsigned. I know I know... it takes the "fun" out of the fancy graphics... but its the reason WHY these sites can install the malicious code on your computer without your permission! (To do this, go to "Tools" > "Internet Options" > Security > Custom > and either disable or "Prompt" ALL activex controls. When you're prompted on an exchange to enable activex, SAY NO. That way, those fancy things can't install stuff on your computer.

2) Okay, so we all like the fancy presentations. Easy way around it: Download Netscape 7 or higher. (It works with 4.7 I think too, but not as good). Netscape does *not* allow any installs to occur on your PC without your permission. It prompts to say, "download file" which activex in IE allows without prompting.

In simple terms: Use Netscape 7 or higher for your surfing. That's what I do, and I don't get spyware on my system.

3) Download a *GOOD* virus system - we use f-Secure (its not just for networks) and its fantastic in protecting against viruses, worms, and spyware. I'm not getting paid for recommending them - they're being rated now as the #1 virus software on the market. It catches things both Norton and MacAfee miss

----------

Thanks Amber for the e-mail! And thank you so much for being a subscriber, and I hope you enjoy this week's issue!

Jon =)

"I do not understand why so many people think that by adding music or jingles to their website, it will make me stop and look at what they are offering!

If anything, it annoys me and disrupts my surfing session. So for my pet peeve, I would have to say that it is annoying music jingles put on websites. Take off the music!"

The News

  • The hit exchange industry lost a very valuable resource over the past week. NewStartPages.com has been discontinued and has been re-designed. This service let subscribers know the moment a new exchange was released. It had a database of thousands of hit exchanges and was a one stop resource for every exchange online. However, there are still great resources avaliable such as MTS and Start Page Depot.

  • The great exchange sale? A received an email early in the week, it was from Craig the owner of ClickBully.com. He was trying to sell an exchange called HitMagic.biz. Over the next few days, I received another notice, that he was trying to sell ClickBully. Seems to be a house cleaning sale at ClickBully. A good time to strike a deal perhaps?

  • The impact that those fake visitor sites and auto cheat programs is having on the industry is becoming a real problem for both exchange user and exchange owner. Check out this thread at Net Marketing Forum for more information. *sigh*

  • The end of Share Ad Space on exchanges? The popular site has been banned on Hit Sense for excessive abuse of pop ups. Will other exchanges follow suit or will Share Ad Space start to monitor their sites more closely. Should be interesting to find out!

Top 10 List

This week's results are based on traffic statistics (unqiue hits, page views, hits remaining, hits delivered) and if the exchange delivered results (sign ups). The industry changes just like in the real world, so an exchange may not be on the list this week, but will be number 1 next week! Discuss this week's Top 10 list in the Net Marketing Forum!

Enjoy this week's list!

Hey Jon!

This week's question comes from John;

"As a webmaster in an exchange, I want to be informative to my members without bogging them down with advertising. What makes a newsletter good or bad and what do members want to see as I send it out only once a week?"

My reply;

Thanks for the e-mail =)

I enjoy weekly updates from different exchanges. The best thing it does for me, is reminds me that the exchange is still online. As harsh as that may sound, exchanges come and go everyday.

As a newer exchange, it's important to be in the members view...Keep them up to date with surfing news. Such as any promotions, a reminder of their surfing link and any tips and tricks that may be helpful.

Also, I think it's important to keep all exchange users up to date with the latest news about cheating and proper surfing techniques =)

Do you have a burning question about hit exchanges? Thinking of starting one? Tired of clicking for hours with no results? This is H.E.N.'s weekly Q & A section where I will answer a question every week that you ask me! Send all your questions to me here and just put HEY JON! in the subject line!

Congratulations to John for winning last issue's contest. Remember, keep sending in your 'Hey Jon' questions for your chance to win a quick 10 bucks and a month's worth of banner ad space in HEN!

Program Review - Hit Kingdom

As the publisher of H.E.N. I can be very critical. I always get asked what makes or breaks a hit exchange, and one thing comes to mind, over and over again. A successful hit exchange is created by an owner who cares about their program. Customer support is more than a term, it's a state of mind when you own a business. Hit Kingdom has one of the most dedicated owners on the net, and an exchange that has delivered the hits for quite some time.

Hit Kingdom does'nt have flashy banners, it does not have a 'stand out' logo, it does not deliver a hundred hits a hour. Hit Kingdom follows a very basic structure, a no-nonsense exchange with great customer service and an easy to use script. Hit Kingdom provides it's members with 3 levels of referrals, cheat protection, an opt-in mailing list feature and the ability to promote as many sites as you wish.

Again, this program does not have all the bells and whistles of the newer scripts because it does'nt need it. A stable exchange with an owner who cares about their program, I'll take that over a thousand hits a day anytime!

% Unique Traffic: 72
Results: 3.5 out of 5.0
Traffic Flow (Speed of Delivery): Fast
Site Design: 3.5 out of 5.0
Customer Service: 5.0 out of 5.0
Ease of Use: 4.0 out of 5.0

Overall Rating: 4.0 Mouse Clicks (Rating out of 5.0)

Things That Make You Go...Hmmm? (A 'Different' Look at the Industry!)

  • Attention, Hit Pulse is selling 3,000 hits for $9.99. At least, that's what their THREE e-mails told me! Only need to send me one update, thanks! Hmmm....

  • Auto Hit Machine is sending e-mails now to try to lure folks to their program. And they claim to even be 'CAN/SPAM' legal. Too bad their program robs exchange users and owners, but hey at least their following the spam rules, right? Hmmm...

  • A recent e-mail, I received from a 'member' of my hit exchange;

    "Hello, I was wondering, Why do you make it so hard to get credits? Do we really have to keep clicking the right button? Since you do make it a little harder, why is it a 2:1 ratio? Look at this GREAT site----> (This was an ad for an auto surfing program.)"

    Hmmm....

  • Note to all, auto responders should not be used to say 'Thanks for the e-mail, I will get back to you!' Hmmm....

New Exchange of the Week

Successful commerical scripts seem to create successful hit exchanges, and when you have a winning formula it makes sense to keep it going!

Domain Tip is a new hit exchange from the new owner of TrafficBuck.com. It uses the same script as it's sister program and other notable exchanges such as Click Crazey. Why is this script becoming so popular? Simple, it has FEATURES!

Domain Tip is a welcomed addition to the industry and be sure to get familiar with all the tools avaliable, from banner ads to text ads, this exchange has it all!
