Here's a term many of us have heard before...The ever popular 'marketing' term, the pre-launch. I noticed a few of these 'launches' over the past week and they struck my attention because I always ask myself, are they really needed? Or are they just a way for program owners to upsell you on something they plan to offer later?

Pre-launch is hype, nothing more. What it should be used for, is to iron out any weakness in the scripts, or touch ups to the design. Instead (in my opinion of course) they create hype within the online world, and the whole internet will be knocking at the doors of these great money making extravaganzas.

To put the term loosely...*LOL*

This industry fails because of these fly by night operations, that just seem to be promoted to no end before they officially launch, and then poof, they disappear without a trace within the next few weeks. Why? What scares people away? Is it the product itself? The program? Why does pre-launch almost GUARANTEE a program will fail. Want a good example, here's one...Spam Terminator.

If owners would use the pre-launch to actually build a solid foundation for these programs instead of filling peoples minds with hype and hoopla, I would bet there would be alot more 'success' in the online world. I've always said, more substance, less hype...My opinion on this is as follows...If something says 'pre-launch'...Don't even bother counting down from 10!

• Proof that the hit exchange industry is starting to shift to a more traditional way of marketing. Check out the latest newsletter from Hit Safari and you will see a few poll questions directed at the members. The owners of Safari want to know what the members think of their exchange and this is a great sign of things to come. Webmaster Quest did this same thing about a year ago, and have had some great results because of it.

• Better late than never? This week has been very weird for my tracked links. Out of nowhere, HitsForYou decided to deliver a few hundred credits to my URLs. Not big news, but considering that I have not surfed, or received any hits from that site in months, does interest me. Another site magically delivering hits, Traffic Run also decided to push a few page views my way (of course this is the first in weeks)...???

• Lighter side of the news? GURUdaq is absolutely one of the most interesting and funny websites I've seen in months. Check out which internet guru is leading the pack with live stats and some very commical commentary. I still don't see any exchange owners on that list...That's a good thing I think?

• And finally, a little plug for one of the most active forums online, the Net Marketing Forum (or NMF). Thanks to Jon Atwood of Ad Tactics, the forums now has banner advertising space avaliable. I've created a special page for NMF and HEN members to grab ahold of some ad space for a discounted rate. A year ago, my answer would be different from what is is now. And then again, I'm not sure I can give you a fair answer, but I'll go over what I think about commerical scripts.

The first script that was sold commercially, that I know of, has been re-released and re-done by the owner of StartXChange.com. It's called the TCN Exchange script, and they are fully featured scripts that have everything you will need. Alot of the big name exchanges started out on a TCN script (when it was called PHP HomeXchange). Definately something to look into. Examples of this script would be Hit Hurricane and StartXchange.

Another popular script was the PHP Lite scripts. Created by the owners of BraStart, this one is proboubly one of the most popular commerical scripts. Affordable and it has alot of features. However, they do seem to act weird from time to time, nothing major but I've had troubles with some sites. Examples of this script would be Clickin Fingers and Pro Click Exchange.

Next would be the Walker Brothers scripts. Definately the least expensive of the lot, but one of the harder scripts to master. Why? Because of their cookie cutter design and layout. Basically all the exchanges look identical but there are exceptions. Some people have created some great programs with this script. Examples of this script would be Hit Snapper and Clicking Crazy.

And finally, the new kid on the block is the LJ Scripts. A fully loaded script that attracts both manual and *eeek* auto surfing owners. These scripts are very fun to use *as a surfer* and very easy to understand. Definately a hot property for exchange scripts. Examples of this script would be Click Crazey and Exchange Pilot.

I don't really have a favorite, but maybe a look into a TCN Script. Reason being, the price is set high enough to only attract serious exchange owners. I hope this helps! =)

I guess this could be considered a cloned site? Or maybe it's not because the other sites that use this script are owned by the same people? Who knows, but one things for sure, Clicks Matrix has been a rock solid hit exchange since it was launched a few months ago.

The same people who bring you Webmaster Quest and Cash Clicking, brought this program online about 3 months ago and it was a huge success. The beauty of this program was that like it's sister programs, it kept all the features you've come to associate with WMQ and CC, and incorporated them into this brand new exchange. Plus, add the fact that the Matrix had a huge downline referral structure that paid you on 15 levels of referrals...It was a blast to promote and a breeze to surf.

The only problem with this program is that it almost gets lost with all the other exchanges owned by the folks at WMQ and CC. An update every few weeks helps to keep interest up, but I would love to see more emphasis on building strong downlines and the benefit of upgrading. Not only do you get CASH on 15 levels, you also get 500 free hits to your website alone. One of the best 5 dollar investments online, if you work it! Definately another quality hit exchange!

New Exchange of the Week - Haunted Clicks

This is the second week I've been caught sleeping on a newer hit exchange. Haunted Clicks was launched a few weeks ago and I surfed it for a few minutes and thought, hey I've got 25 credits, let's wait until those have been used before starting a session to rack up some hits. Well days went by, and no hits so I forgot about this beauty of a hit exchange. Yesterday, I logged in and surfed some more, then it hit me.
