The Pulse of the Hit Exchange Industry!

November 4th, 2004

One To Click On by Jon

Welcome to the newest issue of the Hit Exchange News and this week's 'One To Click On by Jon'.

I get really confused sometimes online. The things that I see people endorse and try so hard to promote sometimes makes me question what state this industry is really in. I mean it's every few months, a new fad seems to pop up. First it was the guaranteed sign up programs, then it was the bubble games, a few months ago it was the randomizers and recently it has become a 'doubler' world. Oh yeah there is now triplers on the market as well...

I have my own opinion on them, but I would LOVE to hear what HEN subscribers think of this money maker of the year. Are they legal? Do they work? How much can you make? Have you made a penny?

CLICK HERE to have your say and let the industry know what you think about the doubler craze!

If anything, it has proved that one simple idea can create quite a stir in the industry. Remember, ClickThru.net, years ago thought of this crazy idea to 'exchange page views with other webmasters'. Funny how things work out!

Thank you for being a subscriber and I hope you enjoy this issue!

Jon =)

  • The News

    • It seems to be the 'month of the downline club'. It's no secret that I have been a big supporter of Profit Rally, but every few weeks there seems to be a new addition to the ever increasing list of downline clubs. Which one is the best? Which one actually gets you referrals? I featured Profit Rally last week, so every month I will be doing a feature on the downline clubs. 3 issues from now, check out my next review. And also look out for R.A.W. a brand new downline club, again, focusing on the wonderful world of hit exchanges. Stay tuned!

    • New this week from Start X Change comes an interesting twist on 'remaining active' in an exchange. A few months ago SXC started a new 'downline' structure. One downline you earned credits from referring people, the other downline you earned if you were an active surfer. Added to this feature is now the ability to determine how many hits you will receive. The more you surf this exchange, the faster your credits are used up. Very interesting concept, and something I personally would love to see implemented a lot more across the industry. It's time to reward the active surfers!

    • The future of the exchanges? Gone Clicking has a new surf for cash promotion that has been added to it's arsenal of features which for the next day or so, allows members to earn a full $1 for every 250 pages viewed. This seems to be a trend as more and more exchanges are offering cash to keep their members surfing. Not a bad deal, surf for a few hours and make a few bucks while you are at it. Is this something to look for, or just a few exchanges trying to catch the PTC wave of activity?

    Top 10 List

This week's results are based on traffic statistics (unique hits, page views, hits remaining, hits delivered) and if the exchange delivered results (sign ups). The industry changes just like in the real world, so an exchange may not be on the list this week, but will be number 1 next week! Discuss this week's Top 10 list in the Net Marketing Forum!

Deep Thoughts - The Anti-Auto Man

Wow, have I ever caught some heat from disgruntled exchange owners and surfers over the past year and a half I've been writing this e-zine. One of the biggest 'complaints' I get is my lack of support of the auto hit exchange industry. For those who have recently subscribed to Hit Exchange News, let it be known, Jon is NOT a fan of auto hit exchanges. An interesting discussion took place in a forum I frequent so I thought it would be a good idea to explain why I have never reviewed or featured auto hit exchanges.

It's not that I'm anti-auto hit exchange, in fact I think they are very remarkable systems. They have a very high user rate, most of the memberships are in the tens of thousands and you can get a lot of traffic from using them. It's not even the quality of the traffic that makes me not use these programs. To tell you the truth, I'm basically anti-auto anything.

I don't like automation online. I rarely use auto responders because I think it takes away from the 'human communication' we lack, especially online. For me there is nothing better than reading a well thought out support request, not just an auto responded message. I was never a fan of FFA programs and once the automation of the safelists came about (and arguably ruined the industry), I ran away from that as well. I think there is WAY too much automation in the internet marketing business, because it plays with the popular belief that it is easy to make money online. The whole 'sit back and let it happen' attitude if you will.

I'm living proof that YES there is money to be made online and NO, you don't need to be 'automated' to make it happen. I've actually had horrible experiences with automation, and way back when, accidently sent out over 100,000 emails via auto responder the first time I ever used an FFA program. I like being in control of my business and not relying on some piece of software to let my members know they are appreciated and valued.

I can admit it though, automation of online business is here and very popular. So no, I'm not anti auto hit exchange, I just like to know my sites are being viewed by real people. Think about it, we are all communicating everyday with people on the other side of the globe, all behind these boxes we call computers. I like to keep in mind that there are real people behind each of those computers...

Program Review - First Place Traffic

I really wish nothing but good things for this exchange. It is only a few months old, but is proving to be very effective. First Place Traffic is one of the better new hit exchanges to come online in quite sometime and plays off a simple concept. Deliver the hits, and don't worry about anything else.

This exchange is a solid program as it's LJ Script backbone has all the features you've come to expect from text and banner impressions, to daily contests and surfing bonuses everywhere you turn. However there has been some troubles. I don't think this program is on a dedicated server, as load times can be long and recently the entire program went offline for, what I'm guessing, is using too many resources.

Again, I hope this program continues to improve and hopefully is can get it's own server soon (if it has not already). First Place Traffic is a very good example of keeping hit exchanges simple but most importantly, delivering on what is promised.

Things That Make You Go...Hmmm? (A 'Different' Look at the Industry!)

    • Tsunami Gold has been delayed for a few more days. And just in case you forgot...'MONEY LEGS DOT COM, HOME OF THE 200 MILLION OFFLINE CLASSIFIED AD CAMPAIGN...JOIN FREE TODAY!!!! And who said audio on websites didn't work? Hmmmm.....

    • What happened to EZHits4U.com? Hmmmm.....

    • George W. won the election. Wow, JibJab.com is so much funnier now. Hmmmm......

New Exchange of the Week - Traffic Twist

What a cool concept. Surf in a hit exchange and use your un-used credits for a chance to win a prize. For Traffic Twist, they are giving away an X Box video game system, or so they say.

Yeah, this seems to be a very good idea but when the prize isn't going to be awarded until December 31st, 2005, you've really got to wonder. If they pull it off, generate enough members and start giving away prizes like this every few months, I could see this kind of concept exchange taking off. But not awarding this for another year, could really hurt the potential of this program.

    Time will surely tell!
